Supported placements in KVT’s camps in Finland

Are you a young person (18-29 years old) who is currently without a job or study place, or residing in Finland as an asylum seeker, refugee or under temporary protection? Would you be up for an international volunteering experience in Finland this summer? You can apply for KVT’s supported camp placements to attend one of our voluntary workcamps for free!
What?
In 2025-2026, KVT offers two supported places on each of our workcamps for young people aged 18-29 belonging to one of the target groups mentioned above. These places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why should I participate?
At the workcamp, you will gain valuable experience working in an international group, get to know new places and communities in Finland, and make friends with other volunteers from Finland and abroad. By learning about the work of local projects, you can also get ideas and inspiration on how voluntary work can help you make an impact in your own community and in the society.
What happens at the workcamp?
At the workcamp, you will work for a local association, project, or other non-profit entity in a group of about 7 to 12 international volunteers, usually for about 1 or 2 weeks. Volunteers live together during the camp. The work done at the camps does not require special skills, and volunteers will get instructions and necessary working equipment from the camp host. The work can include, for example, preparing food and distributing it to people, gardening or manual renovation work, or helping with arrangements of a local summer event. Here you can find more detailed descriptions of this year’s camps.
What does it cost to participate?
Participating in a camp through a supported placement is free for you. We will ask for your permission to add you as a member of KVT, but this will not incur any additional costs for you. KVT will provide you with travel tickets to the workcamp location (excluding possible local transport tickets, for which you can apply for reimbursement from us afterwards). The camp organizer provides volunteers with food and accommodation for the duration of the camp. Please note, however, that you will be responsible for your own expenses for any free time activities during the camp.
How do I apply for a supported place at the workcamp?
- Choose the workcamp you want from the camp list
- Fill out the application form and send it by email to
- We will get back to you as soon as possible. If there are still places available in the camp you would like to attend, we would be happy to have a short phone or video call with you to tell you more about participating in the camp.
How do I prepare for the workcamp?
You will receive an infosheet with more details about the camp for about a month before it starts. The infosheet includes contact information of the camp location and the camp leaders, as well as a list of things to bring with you. If you have any questions, you can contact KVT or the camp leaders. If you need to borrow any equipment (e.g., a sleeping bag) for the camp, please let us know in advance.
Interested? Please don’t hesitate to be in touch, and feel free to spread the word to your friends. Hope to see you in the summer!
