Kansainvälisten vapaaehtoistyöleirien tietokanta on nyt pullollaan kesällä 2018 järjestettäviä leirejä. Nyt onkin siis aika toimia ja hakea leirille, sillä suosituimmat leirit täyttyvät nopeasti!
Leirinhakukoneesta voit etsiä leirejä esimerkiksi leirin ajankohdan, teeman tai maan mukaan. Tässä esimerkkeinä kolme kesäkuussa järjestettävää luonnonsuojelu- ja ympäristöteemaista leiriä ympäri maailmaa:
DE-SCI 10.82 Encounter with Animals and Sustainable Agriculture (Alfter)
Germany, 18.6. – 3.7.2018
Description: Around the year, school classes, children’s groups and families come to the ‘Stallgespräch’, an -encounter and educational project – set on a farm with animals, garden and fields to work there. By feeding the animals and observing them, knowledge and skills in dealing with different species of animals are learned. In doing so, the visitors should develop respect towards these living beings.
Type of Work: Caring of the animals; disassembly and arrangement of a trailer for the visitors; improving the accessibility of the farm, construction of a horse paddock and an animal shelter; renewal of the fences; help with organic farming (such as weeding, digging); the work is varied and there is something for everyone
Study Theme: Species-appropriate animal husbandry; animal-assisted therapy; organic farming; solidary agriculture.

HR-VAK 11.1 Bears forest energy
Croatia, 20.6. – 29.6.2018
Description: Velebit Association Kuterevo aims at preservation of natural and cultural heritage in the village and region around. For 16 years, the organization is running the Refuge for bears and people. The camp will be in the forest, 3km from the village.
Type of Work: Most of the work will be construction work, fixing existing infrastructure and the camping places, possibly building a stone wall around it. The volunteers will be encouraged to do other minor stuff, fixing benches, tables, painting, making art.
Study Theme: Living simply, together with nature, learning about bears and wildlife (biology, ecology, mythology), herbs, possibly learning what is permaculture.

JP-NIC 10.1806151 Shirakami 2 (Aomori)
Japan, 15.6. – 25.6.2018
Description: The Shirakami Mountains is one of Japanese valuable preserved natural forests consisting primarily of beech trees, registered as a World Natural Heritage in 1993. SMPS aims to preserve the natural beauty of the Shirakami Mountains by nurturing seedlings of beech trees, planting them, training mountain guide, etc. SMPS hosts tree-planting ceremony every June for preserving and promoting the value of it.
Type of Work: Volunteers will do various types of nature conservation works such as 1) cutting glasses to improve ecological richness of the forest and 2) helping the tree planting ceremonies including preparation such as carrying the plants and tools, and cleanup after the event. We will also help local farmers. The contents of work might be changed due to weather condition, so volunteers need to be flexible!
Study Theme: Volunteers will get knowledge of history and culture of Shirakami, and skills of conservation forests in Japan.
