Project Description:

Task of the LTV is mainly teaching English in a

school in a small village called Thiruvattar. Nearest town (Marthandam) is 6 km away by a bus.

Detailed Information:

Work: The task of the volunteer is to teach mainly English and help teachers with other subjects as well. It is also possible and encouraged to join other classes and suggest other activities related for example to sport or drama education.

Work days are from Monday to Friday between 8-16 and amount of classes will be different each day. The school children have couple weeks of holiday in the end of each term and then it is also a good chance to travel.

Requirements: Flexibility and good social skills and independent working skills as well as good English language skills, ability to live in a remote place. Previous teaching experience is a plus but high motivation is more important.

Food: Food will be provided by the school.

Accommodation: Basic room with western toilet and shower in a school promises.

Pocket money: No pocket money is available.

Insurance: Volunteer should obtain her/his own insurance.

Fees: 100e program costs to the local volunteer organization.

Visa: Tourist visa needed. When applying for a visa, best to explain the time of work you are doing.
